Sam
Shalala
As the owner of Pro
Technik, Inc. the largest independent
Porsche repair facility in the southwest, Sam spent twenty
years specializing in Porsche's. He learned not only how
to fix them, he also learned how to make them go fast.
Sam got into racing over 20
years ago running his Porsche 911 in the Porsche Club of
America driving events, and grew into the game as an owner
as well as a crew member, driving instructor, and crew
chief. Built his own race car in 1990 and started racing
IMSA/Sportscar Series in 1992.
He held the track record at
Texas World Speedway for a Porsche powered car, and
professionally has over
100 podium finishes to his credit as a driver. He
has finished second in IMSA's 24 Hours of Daytona, fourth
at the 12 Hours of Sebring and numerous top five finishes.
An excellent driver, a
dedicated owner, Sam puts forth a winning effort at all
times, on and off the track, and is a favorite with both
the public and the press.

Stan
Wenger
I bought my first Porsche, a pokey 924,
in 1982. I soon decided I must have a 930, and acquired a
Euro version from Switzerland at the height of the grey-market
year in 1984. I loved it, drove the heck out of
it, and kept it for 18 fun-filled years. I bought a 1996
993 RSR in 2000 and began racing it in earnest in 2003,
where I battled at Mid-Ohio, Omaha, TWS, Hallett,
Pueblo, and Road America. I am a fairly decent
shade-tree mechanic, but let Sam and Steve do the really
hairy things (like transmission and engine overhauls!). I
started doing PCA and SCCA Autocross and PCA Drivers Ed
events in about 1987, and have been very active in
the Lone Star Region, serving as it's 2002 and 2003
President. I continue to instruct at DE events (both
in-car and classroom) and love to watch new track drivers
come up the steep learning curve and be thrilled at the
experience.

Mike Skalka
"Mike's
relationship with Porsche began as a youth.enamored by
the unique design of the early 911s. Fortunately, his
future wife, Sue, felt the same way. Upon their marriage
they promised each other that one day they will have their
own Porsche 911. After four children and 2 cross country
career moves, they purchased their first Porsche, a 1996
Carrera, on their 21st wedding anniversary.
As
a bicycle racer, both in the Chicago and New York City
metropolitan areas, Mike knew the value of maintenance and
thoughtful modification from manufactures stock
specifications. "There was still room for improvement,
even in a Porsche", said Mike. So he searched for the
best shop in the Houston area. All recommendations,
including the dealer's sales manager, lead to Pro
Technik.
Mike
initially sought Sam's advice on intake and suspension
modifications for his street Carrera. "What impressed me
most about Sam and his staff was not only their expertise,
but they seemed inspired in their work. They were very
responsive to my endless questions and they clearly
evidenced to me that they felt responsible for their
suggestions to the modifications requested. They simply
told me that not all products function as advertised and
all products are not always as compatible as their
respective manufacturers suggest", said Mike.
By
1997, after meeting other enthusiasts, Mike began the Lone
Star Region DE program. Sam then encouraged Mike to enter
PCA racing. In December of 1999, Mike purchased a 1988 944
Turbo and entered his first race in March of 2000.
Clearly, he was hooked on Racing. "Sam's advice about
position on the track, the racing line and proper attitude
have proved invaluable. And, Steve (Sam's associate),
has dedicated himself to maintaining my car's
performance. My only regret is that I did not start this
sooner."
Mike
then went on to become a DE instructor for Porsche, Honda
and BMW. He is also a graduate of the Skip Barber Racing
School."
